French vintage studio pottery bowl.
Circular bowl by Taizé with rich, chestnut brown colouring and a slightly mottled glaze. Little spots and speckles in the glaze add interest.
Low, slightly footed shape ideal as a decorative piece for a shelf or coffee table.
Taizé pottery was founded by Brother Daniel de Montmollin in around 1949. Influenced by Bernard Leach, de Montmollin pioneered the use of glazes made from plant ashes and is known for his stoneware pieces.
Made in France c1970s or 1980s and impressed to the base: TAIZE
Approximately 4.5cm tall and 16.5cm diameter across the top of the bowl.
Very good vintage condition with little misses in the glaze.
All our pieces have a past and may feature age-related marks which we believe add to their charm. If you have any questions about this item or would like to see further photographs, please do get in touch.
