Vintage Fajalauza pottery jug.
Large Spanish pitcher with a design of a little bird to the front of the jug, pomegranates and flowers, ferns or feathers.
Traditional hand-painted piece in cobalt blue and emerald green against a white background.
The jug is hand-formed with a pinched pouring spout and lovely, slightly irregular shape.
Fajalauza pottery has been documented to the 16th century and takes its name from the Puerta de Fajalauza (Fajalauza Gate) within the city wall of Granada in Spain. Plants, birds and the pomegranate - the symbol of Granada - are frequently included in the designs.
Approximately 19.5cm tall and 13.5cm in width at its widest.
Excellent condition with light scratches and glaze imperfections, slightly rustic style.
All our pieces have a past and may feature age-related marks which we believe add to their charm. If you have any questions about this item or would like to see further photographs, please do get in touch.
