Vintage Spanish Fajalauza pottery bowl.
Large footed terracotta bowl from Granada in Spain with a traditional painted design in teal green and cobalt blue against a bright white glaze.
The design includes a pomegranate, the symbol of Granada (Granada is Spanish for Pomegranate) surrounded by two feathers or flowers and a looping border.
Handmade with a slightly irregular form and rustic aesthetic.
The Fajalauza pottery style has been documented to the 16th century and takes its name from the Puerta de Fajalauza (Fajalauza Gate) within the city wall of Grenada.
Stamped to the base: Ceramica Arabe, Los Arrayanes, Granada, Hecho a Mano
Approximately 9.6cm tall and 21cm across the top of the bowl.
Very good vintage condition with small chips to the edge (as shown in the photographs). Small glaze imperfections and air bubbles from time of manufacture.
All our pieces have a past and may feature age-related marks which we believe add to their charm. If you have any questions about this item or would like to see further photographs, please do get in touch.
