Fajalauza Pedestal Bowl
Fajalauza Pedestal Bowl
Share
Spanish Fajalauza pottery footed bowl.
A showstopper of a piece, this large vintage pedestal bowl from Granada in Spain has a traditional painted design in teal green and cobalt blue against a bright white glossy glaze.
At the centre of the bowl is a pomegranate, the symbol of Granada (Granada is Spanish for Pomegranate) surrounded by two flowers and a wider more abstract design covers the full surface of the bowl.
The Fajalauza pottery style has been documented to the 16th century and takes its name from the Puerta de Fajalauza (Fajalauza Gate) within the city wall of Grenada.
Approximately 13cm tall and 28.5cm across the top of the bowl. Unmarked piece but utterly distinctive of Fajalauza pottery from Granada in Spain. c1970s/1980s
Very good vintage condition with small nibbles to the base and air bubbles within the glaze from time of manufacture.
All our pieces have a past and may feature age-related marks which we believe add to their charm. If you have any questions about this item or would like to see further photographs, please do get in touch.
