Stunning Mid Century stoneware jug by Buchan Pottery of Portobello in Edinburgh, Scotland, c1960s.
This is a large Swedish style jug with an abstract design hand-painted in blue against a milk-white background and finished with a glossy glaze.
Clean interior and suitable for practical table use, as a vase or to display.
Buchan Pottery was active from 1867 as stoneware manufacturers in Portobello, Edinburgh making jars and rum bottles. They began producing decorated coloured pieces for household use in 1947.
Approximately 20.5cm tall and 17cm wide from the belly to the handle.
Excellent vintage condition.
