Mid century hand carved onyx box with dramatic green, rust and saffron coloured veins and markings.
Finished with a varnish, green felt base and gold-coloured metal hinge to secure the lid to the box.
The box was likely made in Italy in the 1960s or 1970s.
Approximately 4cm tall, 10.5cm wide and 8.5cm deep.
Lovely vintage condition with some very small nibbles, marks and scratches gathered over the years. Cuts into the stone just below the hinge on the left side date to the time of manufacture (see photos) as does a small resin infill to the stone on the inside of the lid.
