Victorian ironstone transferware platter.

An antique oval platter by Furnivals in the beautiful blue floral Versailles pattern.

A grey-blue coloured transferware border surrounds the outer edge of the platter with loosely drawn flowers and baroque scrolls.

This enormous blue and white ironstone serving platter is large enough to serve a full roast but works equally well for a lighter mezze.

The platter could also be displayed and indeed has not been in practical use for many years.

Approximately 41cm long and 32cm wide.

Stamped to the reverse with the pattern number 'Rd.No.221872' and a number four. There are also several impressed marks to the reverse and a small sticker with the name Furnivals and the date, 1892.

Furnivals was established in 1890 in Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire and was one of the first English potteries to produce designs introduced to Europe from the Orient.

Very good antique condition. There are no chips or cracks, but there is crazing to both sides and small patches of discolouration to the reverse. Beautiful bright blue and white colouring to the front.

All our pieces have a past and may feature age-related marks which we believe add to their charm. If you have any questions about this item or would like to see further photographs, please do get in touch.
