A beautiful antique flow blue ceramic biscuit barrel with a cobalt blue and white floral design with gold edging and highlights. Silver plated trim with handle and a finial topped lid.
The barrel dates to 1894 - the last years of the Victorian era.
Serve Santa his cookies in this beautiful heirloom piece. This would be wonderful to use each Christmas, build memories with and pass down the generations.
The base features the Carlton Ware backstamp with writing: W & R Stoke and Trent Carlton Ware. It also has the registration pattern number: RDNo 24683(?) which dates the barrel to 1894 along with a hand painted number 1406.
The lid and handle trims are stamped EPNS, though the silver plate has now quite worn.
Approximately 15.5cm tall to the top of the barrel (18cm to the top of the finial lid) and 14.5cm in diameter at its widest.
Excellent antique condition without chips, cracks or crazing to the ceramic barrel. Some wear and aging to the lid.
