Beautiful vintage wall plate from Siena in Tuscany featuring a characterful crouching deer.
The deer features in many ceramic pieces from Siena and references marble inlay designs on the floor of the 13th century cathedral in Siena.
Distinctive hand painted piece in black and white with maroon and mustard-yellow accents. Finished with a deeply glossy glaze.
Signed Siena to the reverse with holes to hang the plate.
Approximately 15.5cm in diameter. This is a smaller sized plate (side plate size).
Excellent vintage condition, some light scratches and a tiny nibble in the glaze to the reverse of the plate.
