A vintage pair of short, dark wood candlesticks with a wonderful sculptural form - likely originating in Africa, c1960.
Hand-carved from single pieces of wood - possibly lignum vitae - and slightly irregular due to their handmade form.
Approximately 12.5cm tall and 3.5cm diameter across the base. The candle opening is 2.4cm in diameter.
Aged vintage condition with some knocks and imperfections. Small chips to the upper and lower edge of the candle socket on one candlestick and an old hairline split in the wood to the other.
