Framed vintage oil on canvas painting.

Tarnished and atmospheric still life painting depicting a blue and white porcelain bowl filled with pink, red and yellow roses. The flowers are lovingly painted and seem to be resting so gently in the bowl.

This oil on canvas is absolutely full of character and would look particularly good on a kitchen shelf above white marble tiles or within an eclectic gallery wall.

The painting is signed clearly 'D. Cox' in the lower right hand corner. There is writing in pencil to the reverse of the canvas - one section is illegible, whilst another appears to be the date '1922' and possibly 'July'. On the reverse of the canvas is the stamp of GEO Rowney & Co Ltd of London (now Daler-Rowney). The canvas is stretched with stretcher bars in each corner.

The frame is 49.5cm wide and 29.5cm tall. The visible area of the canvas is 44.5cm wide and 24.5cm tall.

This painting has a time-worn look and does have some imperfections to the canvas. There's an impression to the lower left side which looks as if something has been pushed into the canvas - not creating a hole but an indentation (see photographs).

There are a couple of areas of slightly scratched paint and to the left side there is some bronze-coloured paint from the frame at the edge of the canvas. The wooden frame has been painted and the paint is chipped in several areas.

All our pieces have a past and may feature age-related marks which we believe add to their charm. If you have any questions about this item or would like to see further photographs, please do get in touch.
